Rumana Ahmed, a former captain of Bangladesh, will be called before the Bangladesh Cricket Board for a verbal warning after she took a verbal swipe at the team management for leaving her out of the squad for the tour of Sri Lanka.
Rumana retaliated strongly against the team administration, claiming that Monjurul Islam, the BCB team selector, had informed her that she had been "dropped" rather than just given a break.
Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, the head of the BCB Women's wing, told Cricbuzz on Saturday (April 22), "We will call her (Rumana) after Eid for an explanation and as this is the first time she did something like this, we will give her a verbal warning."

For the first time since making her international debut in November 2011 against Ireland at the BKSP, Rumana was left off the national team. Rumana, who was instrumental in the 2018 Asia Cup victory by Bangladesh's women in Malaysia, adding that she didn't think the elders were welcomed in the locker room.
"Look, this has been going on for a while (seniors are not welcomed), and now is the time for juniors," the speaker said. And it is a typical occurrence in Bangladesh; nothing brand-new, she added. "I believe that when it comes to respecting seniors, we fall short in this country. You'll notice that in other nations, seniors are valued for their experience rather than their physical fitness."
This emotional reaction, according to a senior board official, but older players also need to recognize that at some time in their careers, they will need to open doors for others.
"I don't mean to imply that her international career is ended or that she hasn't contributed to us in any way, but we also need to recognize the importance of raising the next generation. Seniors will therefore eventually have to clear the way, according to the person intimately associated with BCB's women's wing.
"I don't believe it is true that seniors are not respected in the locker room, and one must understand the head coach or any other member of the team management will not drop a performer because it would only have an impact on the outcome, which in the end is the yardstick to judge the performance of the backroom staff," he said in his conclusion.
