On February 4, the ACC will convene in Bahrain and a decision about the Asia Cup is anticipated

On February 4, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will convene in Bahrain. At the eagerly anticipated meeting, where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) representatives will be present, a decision about the Asia Cup is anticipated. With the two boards at odds, it can be a raucous event in Bahrain, a city in the Persian Gulf.

The BCCI and the PCB are at war over the site, which has been a source of dispute for the hosting rights of the 2018 Asia Cup, an ODI championship among continental teams. The PCB was given the right to host the August–September championship, but the BCCI said that the Indian squad would not be able to visit Pakistan because to the political unrest between India and Pakistan.

Ramiz Raja, the former PCB chairman, originally aggravated the BCCI's reluctance by threatening to boycott the World Cup that would be held in India later that year. Najam Sethi, who followed Raja, also appears to have taken a similar view, but other ACC members don't appear to be strongly backing the PCB position.

After Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary and ACC president, revealed the council's timetable, the BCCI and the PCB recently got into a fight. Sethi responded to it in a sarcastic statement on social media, saying, "I appreciate @JayShah presenting the @ACCMedia1 structure and calendars unilaterally, especially in relation to the Asia Cup 2023, which Pakistan will host. You might as well present the structure and calendar for our PSL 2023 while you're at it! We would appreciate a prompt response (sic)."

The ACC stated that Shah's post was not unilateral and refuted the PCB chairman's views, saying, "It has come to our knowledge that PCB Chairman Mr. Najam Sethi has made a comment on the ACC President taking the decision on finalizing the schedule and announcing the same unilaterally. The ACC wants to make it clear that it followed established procedures. On December 13th, 2022, the Development Committee and Finance & Marketing Committee met to approve the calendar.

"The calendar was subsequently sent by email on December 22, 2022, to each participating member separately, including Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). While some Member Boards provided responses, PCB did not provide any feedback or suggestions for changes. Given the foregoing, the ACC emphatically denies Mr. Sethi's views on a social media platform and finds them to be without foundation "The ACC reportedly supported Shah's stance.

The summit in Bahrain may go poorly given the current political climate. A BCCI official said the final decision on the Asia Cup will be made on February 4 in Bahrain while he was in Mumbai for the unveiling of the Women's Premier League teams.
